Making cheap "double"-shot keycaps?

I wonder if you can make cheap double-shot keycaps by carving a letter off of a blank keycap, maybe CNC router it (so there's a hole in the cap) (ABS lets out toxic fumes when lasered, or so my little research says) and then fill the gap with some other plastic (was thinking some dyed hot glue). Sand the top smooth, and maybe it will work?

About 6 years ago I had 5 custom keycaps made for me by Qwerkeys.
They were engraved and infilled, and while I was not entirely satisfied with the reproduction of the legends themselves,
they were excellent craftsmanship with sharp outlines and are still in use:

However, as far as I am aware Qwerkeys do not provide this service anymore.

Those are some crisp corners in the engraving o_o I wonder what type of tool Qwerkeys used. (I can probably just razor knife it.)

I think that's a bt similar to laser-infilled keycaps?
