Why not try a hinged design?
Also, you don't need to glue the switches if you use a 3mm plate, just create notches on the underside:


Hinged controller is a good idea, but maybe it wont feel as stable when using it on my lap.
I've thought about notches in the 3mm plate ...

I have always been pretty clumsy on traditional thumb based game controllers, so I wanted to build a MX-switch based one for simple games and retro emulation . Another reason is that i like pressing MX buttons :D.

Unfortunately the G80-3850 capslock has an off-off-centered mount. That's the reason why your G81-cap didn't fit. If you want to use it, you'll have to cut out the stem and glue it to the right position. Also, are you sure your modifier keys fit? Most G81 modifier caps are off-centered.

Will white/beige be similar to the cherry dyesub colours? If so I'm potentially interested.

Keep in mind that the MY switches will not feel as good as MX ones. They are linear but in my experience very mushy, I much prefer typing on a rubberdome.

This board looks super interesting! Are there any plans to sell these from within Europe in the future? Ordering from abroad is unfortunately not an option for me, Austrian customs is expensive and takes forever (last time they kept a package worth 70$ for 9 Weeks).
