Re: Great/Interesting Finds

So it’s a source of keycaps and springs - maybe model M flippers? Anything else of value for a scavenger? Yes. The caps are very good quality 1-piece, although it is not a conventional set and there are non-computer sub-legends. Left of space bar is the "Code" key which is highly prized by people w...

Re: 122-key original function and your custom remappings

As I anxiously await the arrival of my Soarer's converter, I wonder what many of the unusual keys in the F122's weird layout used to do back in the day. Is there some sort of user manual available somewhere? Yes, there are . Remember the terminal keyboards were heavily tied to specific applications...

Re: Unicomp SSK delayed, new Model M design coming

Idk, it feels weird to complain about when its a simple cap swap to get the correct bottom row. Unless I am mistaken and people want a 3x 1.25u/SB/4x 1.25u bottom row? Older Unicomp Model M keyboards had 'em. I certainly prefer the 1.5/1.0/1.5 disposition. This is my preference too: 1.5/1/1.5 - SB ...

We have the same discussion about the bottom row like every week. Its so they can support tsangan and a more modern 3/SB/4 layout with a single barrel plate.
We know. Let us complain, nevertheless.

That bottom row though .. why?
They probably didn't care to make the effort of switching from the current 5.75u space bar to a 5.5u one (making the new mod 1.5U instead of the nonsensical 1.25u). Not to say anything of split space bars...

Here's the new model M - https://www.pckeyboard.com/page/product/UT40U4A Does anyone else feel like their listing for a new product is almost insulting? No description at all , and they only included one image. It's not insulting, but incompetence. Its no different for their other products. Hey, at...

WOAH. That plate looks to be beyond saving, and makes me fear for the PCB as well. Is the case in one piece and unbroken? Could this keyboard be put back into service? Worst case scenario, (case and) caps should be salvageable and cleanable, and would make for a great "before and after" pair of pics.

Mhmh, how much C R I S P Y an F122 may be.... I'am wandering how come J, K and N, M, keycaps are so dirty. Maybe in '90s, videogames were played with such keys instead of today WASD? That doesn't look like dirt from usage; probably that area was more exposed to the elements than the rest of t...

Even limited reprogrammability on the new units would be the one addition that is still lacking.

I'll still be getting mine when they start churning out ISO SSKs, though. :-D

GFL, this thing is so horrendous, one actually forgets the abominable disposition of the nav keys. BTW, the F keys are narrower than the alphas. Did that sub-1U width present an additional problem while using this thing? Also, wouldn't "titboard" be a more appropriate name for this contraption than ...

Flashy... but not in a proper way. Also, there is unsurprisingly little "cyber" about it. And the physical layout ain't good.

Sure but as I'm spanish i rather stick with ISO layout, ideally ISO-ES. Generally speaking, all F122 (and M122) keyboards will have the ISO physical layout; those you might find with an ANSI one have been modded to that effect. (getting the keycaps for either of the Spanish national layouts is anot...
