Very nice work! Where did you get the great coiled USB cable? I am looking for one of those for ages :)

Re: [Done] CommonSense controller - better capsense!

Try to re-write the firmware (8x24) again with the corrected pin-layout. The firmware itself shouldn't actually make a difference, as long as you get the keys registered, but maybe something went south with reading from the layout table. "Clean and compile" it again, then acquire the connection to t...

Re: [Done] CommonSense controller - better capsense!

I bet you previously have it written to the eprom, I always did a upload (Ctrl+U) before I wrote it to the EPROM, but that probably doesn't matter. What happens, if you click on the yellow "Setup" at the bottom of the main FC window? After that, keys shouldn't register in the application anymore but...

Re: [Done] CommonSense controller - better capsense!

Really odd - if it is working in the Setup mode, then it should also work outside of it, if you have assigned the Base Layer accordingly. Can you post a screenshot of the Key assignment and how they registered in the FC main screen? I want to compare it what I see.

Re: [Done] CommonSense controller - better capsense!

@PancakMSTR: My problems with unrecognized columns vanished, after: I did get 3 GNDs attached to the metal part of the case. I had to attache both top and bottom ground of the PCB and one ground from the Cypress. Once I did that, I got good readings The connections from the Cypress to the PCB have b...

Love the boxes and artwork (also while printed in black). Can't wait to see them in real life.

Re: [Done] CommonSense controller - better capsense!

At first, I am writing this with my 5251 and CommonSense as controller. Below is just a little write-up of my experience. I did read the full documentation and followed the steps. While I am far from being an expert, I have to admit, I had some troubles getting it to work in the beginning due to a f...

Re: [Done] CommonSense controller - better capsense!

I am pretty much at the same stage as kmnov2017. I have a 5251 with a 23x4 physical layout and wired everything up according the below diagram. PinOut 5251.jpg When I compile the firmware (8x24) with settings: COLS: 24 ROWS: 4 I get the same warning and have a hard time to get key presses registered...

Re: Help: Beamspring 3101 controller won't slide off

I checked my controller boards and the connectors and I believe the only thing that can cause this is corrosion. There is no screw etc. As you have said ... there is no corrosion anywhere else on the board, it is very odd. I wouldn't use the original connector, as it is super hard to solder to the X...

Re: xwhatsit beamspring converter board "not found"

As I am using the same parts as you are, I can give an update as soon as my PCBs have arrived. Attaching the controller without keyboard attached should work without issues and I am worried about the sparking/crackling :) This can be caused by shortening something, like the USB connector itself or o...

Re: [IC] xwhatsit Beam Spring controllers

The system should recognize the controller even with no keyboard connected. What worries me is the DAC sparking/crackling... I have ordered the exact same list from digikey and will start soldering mine, when the PCBs have arrived (this week). I will make either a video of the process or take high r...

Re: Help: Beamspring 3101 controller won't slide off

I'd use mineral oil and drip it into the connector of the controller (use a syringe if you have one at hand). Shake it from time to time and let it sit for a few hours. I bet some of the contacts are corroded and it just takes some force to get them off.

Hi, I have ordered all parts in the cart and also ordered the blank PCB (ordered everything to be able assembling two). Once I have it, I will give it a shot and if all goes well, I will give a quick update and guide. See link below: https://deskthority.net/viewtopic.php?f=50&t=10321&p=447614#p447614

$350 is quite some money for just the controller. I was hoping for more around a $100 range...
