Xwhatsit KiCAD with full NetList
I wanted to ask, if anybody has a KiCAD version of the original XWhatsit Controller (Model F variants) including the full NetList available. I only need the 3D picture (rendered) of the front and back as PNG. If someone has all KiCAD files pre-populated for all XWhatsit variants - it would also be g...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
The screw + paper method seems like the best method so far to remove stabilizer inserts! Dye sublimation update: We finally have some approvable key sets! See the below example - please note some keys have been slightly cut off in the photo. And the photo was taken with a camera, not a scanner, so ...

Re: F62+F77 orders now open! New Kishsaver+Industrial Model F Keyboards
It really depends on the configuration. In my case I have a solenoid and two LEDs connected. @darkcruix, I'm not interested in the solenoid for now. Would it be enough adding the LEDs directly in series with the resistors like in the following diagram? model_f_keyboard_leds.png I put the resistor b...

Re: QMK in the New Model F Keyboard
I have played around with the same as I am running into exactly the same problem. For me the way to go was to have both US International and US in the OS (e.g. Alt+Shift in Windows / Ctrl+Alt+Space in Mac OS). Still, it is not ideal, as it requires the back and forth. Normally I stay within US layou...

Re: Model F Technical Manual Project
Just uploaded an updated version (0.5.22) that contains the removal of the plastic inserts in a much simpler way than described before. Additionally I have reports with issues accessing certain pages. I have set the security settings too tight and there are many false-postitives. I am working on get...

Here's a quick collage I put together on my phone of how to make the (hopefully) damage-free insert remover I just mentioned. ... I just wanted to confirm that this is working spot on in my tests ... I will add this as the standard method to remove the inserts in the Model F manual ... HUGE thanks ...

I can imagine people will facepalm now! I drilled holes into the case of a brand new F77. This is not a recommendation - it destroys the original design. Other options to show lock lights are to shine an LED from underneath the numpad. Just wanted to share the outcome ... and I do enjoy the vintage...

I have tried a ton of things and even tried to make my own tools, but couldn't get it working. The Qtip method didn't work for me, I am afraid. So, if there is consistent luck with anything, I would love to know the method / tool, so I can add it to the technical manual...

Thanks so much guys ... there is still some work to be done, but keep the ideas coming. For the serial table, I think an online database would be better suited. Are you sure it is xwhatsit that is running on the controller? Even the controller is of the xwhatsit hardware design, there can be two different versions of firmware be pre-installed. Re: Model F Technical Manual Project
@darkcruix, regarding the font, is it a derivative of Gorton as many keyboard manufacturers used, or a bespoke font? If the latter, do you have it available? Neither, as far as I was informed. Zed has done some research on it - let me quote him: The 'tail' or 'leg' on the 'R' is the dead giveaway f...

When you have both springs attached (tweezered) to the flipper, you wrote you get key presses registered for the i and o, if I haven't misread your post.
If that is the case, it is clearly a problem with the keycap. can you take two other key caps and attach them accordingly?

Re: Replacement Foam Mat for IBM Model F Keyboards?
For all my IBM Model F restorations (XT, AT, F122) I use 3mm neoprene foam with great results. Yes it is harder to compress the plates but totally worth it as it feels even all over and not hollow in the middle rows. I have a video on my YouTube of my AT with the 3mm foam and a full floss mod check...
