My first custom keyboard. Color scheme chosen to match my computer . Tada68 PCB, Tofu 65% Case (Chocolate), DSA Coffee House keycaps, and Novelkeys/Kailh Creams switches. Normally prefer tactile, but these are very smooth switches. https://i.imgur.com/aCHk5Pq.jpg wow, it looks very nice. is this pl...

This project and that exotic wood shop pic (mmm, bloodwood) makes me wish I knew how to woodwork. And Alpsy!

Always been a Roald Dahl fan, so I love that Quentin Blake-style napkin design, too. :)

Maybe make some new Deskthority merch designs and products and add to prize pool, if Deskthority staff/admin are okay with that (wo...

Re: Zenith Z-150 (Black badge, SKCL Green Alps) [United States]

I've always wanted to own this board, but I want one that feels and looks very good and already have a board with very smooth greens. Any further details about the board? Where did you get it? I know you said the switches feel pretty good but do you have other green alps to compare them to? I don't...

Re: Are there any benefits to having a mechanical keyboard if you're not a heavy gamer or aren't a power user

One of the big advantages of mechanical keyboards is partway activation (actuation), meaning you don't have to fully depress the switch. Why is this important? Because it means that you don't have to exert a lot of force - at least not on lower actuation force mechanical switches - "bottoming out" o...

I can sympathize with literally (literally "literally", not figuratively "literally" :P) everything you said. Although in my case it's more with PC building and other communities online rather than keyboard (still relatively new for me). I routinely take breaks and think a larger "digital detox" is ...

Re: Burn him at the stake

He states that he bought another one after 5 years because a key on the first one died. That's already poor value given that you can find mechanical keyboards for under $40. I've never had a keyboard or key die on me in a 5 year span, including cheapo keyboards. Likely the only reason he's aware of ...

Indeed.

You also see similar arguments on both sides in other arenas, as well, such as classic cars. Or the larger vintage vs modern keyboard argument, for that matter.

I haven't been here long enough to even to know what DTA is (until reading the thread, that is) but I think having some external component - as simple as using youtube and imgur for publically shared entry uploads, cross promotion on Reddit and GH (if allowed/possible to work something out) - would ...

I don't really want to sell this keyboard, but I also know I probably won't get around to converting it or properly cleaning it anytime soon, and would rather it go to someone who will either use it or showcase it than have it sit here. Haven't been able to test it, but overall condition looks to be...

I assume I'm the one that sold you them. For the Lunar AEK, the case was designed around the AEK keycaps due to their curvature and profile which is different than what you find with mx keycaps. I recommend sticking with AEK keycaps, they are pretty great and should serve you well. Ah, I should hav...
