Massdrop has the L-Trac-X in the 1600 dpi variant available now, and it's the best way I've seen to get it to Europe. It's on for 119 plus 8 dollars shipping. Haven't seen it that cheap anywhere else, if I've missed some place, let me know!
An update of the Kinesis Advantage would be nice! It's pretty old now as you say. If I were to list the changes I'd like:
* palm keys (i've modified mine to have palm keys, can't live without them now) * split it up (i also use an ergodox from time to time, it's nice to have it in two halves ...
Nice! Yes, you need to push the button on the teensy the first time, so make sure the layout you load has a key (preferably in some layer) that programs the teensy, so you can do it without the actual teensy button going forward. I drilled some holes in my top cover, just in case I need to push ...
I finished mine today. :) Not that many problems during the assembly, but i got a bit scared when i plugged it in the first time... The right hand worked without the left but with both plugged in it would not be recognized as a keyboard at all. It turned out the capacitor in the left bord touched ...
I got mine two days ago, I did most of the soldering yesterday but there's plenty left to do... I've go the aluminum case and it's far from a perfect fit, in the end I'll probably end up spending more time shaping the case then soldering. Happy to do it though, the end result looks promising!
...And it also got me learning colemak, so this is my slowest forum post ever! Welcome to Colemak, my dear friend! You are in for a treat (well, maybe in a couple months from now). Lol, it's pretty harsh at the moment. I churned through the learncolemak.com lessons over Friday and Saturday ...
bjarven, congratulations on a fine looking keyboard! Very happy to see you did the mod, you even put the buttons in a better position than I did!
Thanks! I took your advice on the placement, and put them a little bit further away from the thumb clusters. Today is actually the first day that I ...
This might be interesting... Could you accomodate alternative layouts? I'm interested in colemak, I guess I only need two extra keys with 'nubbins', T and N, since the rest is all the same when they have identical slope. I'd use it on a ErgoDox.
Unfortunateny I don't have a soldering iron (yet, it's in the mail...) so the cables connecting the buttons were just taped on. They worked for a while but I think they've fallen off now that I've moved the keyboard. So now they're just sitting ...
I am thinking about organizing a groupbuy, within the massdrop buy . Basically collecting all the parts at one adress, mine perhaps, and shipping when complete. Also keycaps and switches which arrive later from a new buy. Collecting for NL and maybe neighbour country's like DE, BE and UK. After ...
Could always have an EU person be the recipient of multiple Massdrop kits as long as they would combine shipping. A GB within a GB!
It seems like they add $20 for each kit, so there are no savings in ordering multiple kits. :( For that reason I've only commited to one, and will get another one ...
I'm harassing them with emails now... :) I asked how much a full set without the switches would be. And it seems that they're changing the buying form quite often, (they've added prices to pcb's in the last hour I think, $22, don't know if that is for ...
About the extra pcbs, I see a option for them when I try to buy? But I don't see any prices for them so I emailed them about it.
Too bad that there are no brown switches though :( I'll probably get one with blues and one without, and then get some browns from 7bit if the blues are not to my liking ...
If massdrop manages to get all those parts (seems like everything but the keycaps?) for $199 I think that's a very reasonable price. :) I'll get two or three.

Vote for the blank PBT option I created in the poll so we don't get stuck with ABS and QWERTY ...
This thread has given me the confidence that I should be able to do the palm key mod to my kinesis! :)
A question though, how often do you use those palm keys? I'm thinking about putting some characters that I use relatively often on the second layer. (å, ä, ö, I'm swedish) Atm I access them with ...
I've checked out SP's inventory now and can't find that many caps that would fit on the 2x1 keys on the thumbclusters. Only a a few 2x1 Row 4, and they only seem to come in white or gray. And from the geekhack thread I've concluded that I should get some that are marked 2x1 Row 4/4 too? I haven't ...
Great! I can't access that thread atm but I'll start looking through the SP inventory. Will probably order some if they aren't too unreasonable on prices.
I'm trying to replace some keycaps on my advantage, searched the board and found this thread.
I'm looking mostly for replacing the thumb keycaps with blank ones, and have looked at the blanks that can be bought at wasdkeyboards. I think I've identified ok replacements for the long ones, but not ...
How about a mac wireless, a mac wireless touchpad and one of these? http://magicconnector.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/IMG_4077.jpg or something similar, this was the first one google gave me.
It's probably pretty expensive though for all three parts. I haven't tried any of them, used a "wired ...
I never got around to actually change the key mapping, I just redid the physical key layout for my symmetric stagger. The plan was to come up with a layout of my own to fit the type of typing I actually do myself.. A key logger and some number crunching should do that trick, right? =)
I think we're looking for pretty much the same in a keyboard... I too code mostly in vim and need to type in swedish now and then. I tried some dvorak variants a year ago but settled for colemak with some small changes instead, (caps lock to esc is a necessity! ;)) that was half a year ...
Very nice setup! I have something very similar in mind when I eventually get my hand on a ErgoDox... :P
On difference though, I thought it would be a good idea to have a trackball in between the two halfes of the keyboard, is that a comfortable setup? I'm left handed and thought i could use the ...
That acrylic case is looking very nice! Will it be available for the group buy? And how much would it cost?
I'm really wanting one now... :P Thinking about getting three sets of pcb's and two sets of cases. No further news on when the group buy will start? I want to start soldering! :D (and throw ...
gVim for editing scripts, NetBeans with jVi plugin (making it behave as vim inside netbeans) for developing larger projects. Hmm should I vote for vim or netbeans...
I have a problem when I try to login with tapatalk, I've misspelled my password a few times and now when I try to login
I get a error message that I've entered the wrong password too many times. And then I should enter a captcha. But the captcha isn't displayed in tapatalk... Hmm... Any ideas?
