Re: Model M Problems

I have hundreds of Ms. I can tell you that rivets are the most common problem, but there are quite a few that are electrically fubar. You plug them in and get nothing, no response at all. Disassembly shows nothing visibly wrong, except of course the rivets. Replacing the controller almost always sol...

One feature I really like in the new design is the "back to top" icon on the thread pages. Is there any way to have this on the spy page also?

Interesting pages

As I comb the web looking for things, I frequently find interesting pages related to keyboards. I am not wiki savvy, so I will post them in this thread as I come across them. Maybe someone will want to add them in an appropriate spot. First up is a text page that describes how to use the same keyboa...

Re: Apple Desktop Bus Keyboard IIgs

I have a complete 658-4081 with salmons. I also have one with the stem broken on the B cap (but the cap is still there) and missing the bottom left key. The H412 is tested. Everything works except the right Alt key. It has a broken switch on the numpad 9, and that caps is missing.

IBM Model M hybrid?

On most Model Ms, the plate is dull steel colored. On a few old ones, I have found chromate plates inside. These are usually M122s that still have the F style feet. Is this usual?

I remember those! The computers that came with them had a huge hard drive labeled "Not valid past 60Gs". There were 60 screws just to take the lid off! Zenith made basically the same computer and keyboard, with the same connector. I seem to recall a thread on here years ago about converting one.
