Re: IBM model F XT not working suddenly

Take pictures from several angles, the description alone makes it difficult to understand what the problem could be.

Re: Mini Mechanical Keyboard with Magnet - Custom Value and Macro

How is that thing supposed to work? i.e. how does a keypress go from a "module" to the "baseboard" ? How does the baseboard tell modules apart?

Also @iamelaineee: welcome to DT, if you have any ties with the maker of this board it is good practice to disclose this.

Kudos from the Count himself, thanks! I plan on doing a few small changes to the build still: 3¼" diskette support (parts incoming), 5½" floppy support (TBD - there's a few options out there but they're not cheap and it's not as though I have an urgent need for that capability) and eventually a grap...

I wonder, how do the properties of EVA (which I've used without issue) and PVC compare when it comes to conductivity, static buildup and the like?

I don't think I ever posted my setup: desk.jpg The desk is a custom, solid oak butcher block style counter; reused and refinished by my father and I. It sits on a grey Ergocentric upCentric adjustable height base. Monitors are a trio of Dell U2415. Speakers are circa-1999 Altec Lansing. The headset ...

I would suggest you add a close-up of the label on the back, and some close-ups of the keys.
Doubleshot ABS caps like these develop "shine" as they wear out.

Das 4C overhaul ideas?

Hello, I recently acquired a known defective Das Keyboard 4C in ANSI layout through classifieds; looked in pretty good shape but it was described as having two defective switches, B and N, which indeed did not register. 2019-10-29 01.12.51.jpg Initially, I thought I could replace the two defective s...

IMHO, at a minimum they should have made the arrows analog as well; or better yet assume the enthusiast/connoisseur tier and go all the way as Wooting has.

Re: IBM Model M - Reproduction Labels?

One word of caution: do not use heat to soften the glue, otherwise you risk deforming the plastic case.

(Also, this isn't the first board we see here with a Hexatek label on it. Are you in the Montreal area by any chance?)

I'm tempted to buy one of this and send it to chyros. I suspect his reaction will be rather "meh" compared to some of his more, ahem, "colorful" ones. Going by that blog post, there doesn't seem to be anything especially offensive with this keyboard when compared to the like of the Smith-Corona or ...

Thanks for the links! It seems that the controllers have been made by different OEM. Your controller has slightly different silk screening compared to the controllers shown in this thread . Quoting myself :P If you're just curious about the general shape and feel of a trackball, elecplus has a couple of Microspeed (CST's old name) units in stock. I added one to an order about a year ago, converted it to USB using TMK. I found the 400 CPI too slow for my tastes, but it was close enough ...

Hello, I'm looking for proper surface mount capacitor part numbers to replace those on an M2 that I could order from a distributor like Digikey or Mouser. I'm in the process of ordering a custom set from Unicomp for my F127, but I'm well-aware that I'm going to have to epoxy the stabiliser holes on the spacebar, so that the F wire fits. Easier: shrink wrap on the thinner wire Alternatively: DIY wire with steel tubing sleeve as shown in this video: ht...

Your image tags are pointing to something on Google Photos that apparently hasn't been setup to be linked from here. Ideally just attach directly here and place inline.

Assuming your "Lots of tobacco" refers to the brown gunk commonly found on those PCBs, that'd be rosin flux.

"Simplified" refers to later contact mechanisms as seen in SKBM switches, versus the earlier "complicated" switchplat...
