Hi 7bit.. I just paid an invoice for some R5 leftovers, including some 4u space bars. With this order, can you please send the black 1/! key that was missing from the prior shipment and (if you can) a 4u stabilizer wire?

Think about the historical context in which rights are asserted. It's a principled assertion against the status quo that leaves no room for negotiation. Hey England, these are our unalienable rights , so go f yourselves! You want me to ratify this constitution? Not until you agree to my bill of righ...

There are on-demand book printing services that I think would be affordable, even if the quantity is low. I can offer to help with typesetting. Here are some pictures of the latest batch. I got bored designing an actual keyboard for these so have spent too much time tweaking the PCB design in KiCad. There is a prototype version of the 2u board, though I need to find some Cherry PCB-mount stabilizers to test the fit. Also, I've widened...

One particular obstacle is the Gerber format, which only allows drawing straight segments and circular arcs for traces. You can get closer to a hand drawn look if you render the traces in SVG using Bézier curves. Then the SVG can be imported into KiCad as a footprint / module by approximating the c...

SVG graphics in KiCad (svg2mod)

There didn't seem to be a good way to get vector graphics into Pcbnew, so I wrote a small utility that uses an existing SVG library to read files, and then writes them out as KiCad modules. It seemed generally useful so I put it on github . It should let you make something like this: svg2mod-dt.png ...

If using a mcu on a break-out board, the size, shape, and how it can be mounted are also important. Some of these other features may be more or less standard items: Hardware support for TWI/SPI are important for talking to other devices (or the other half of a split keyboard). A UART suitable for ta...

Awesome. Just one 4u wire for a Cherry stabilizer would be great, thanks. :D I think those are simpler than Costar wires, right? I could attempt to bend 50-100 wires but I have no experience with it. Under what conditions do Cherry stabilizers require the indent in the middle? It seems like the shor...

It seems like the base PCB is nearing completion. I'll probably do one more small order to verify the final design. It's probably best to produce a variant of the PCB specifically for MX lock switches, if you want LED support. Enabling support for LEDs on both MX lock and non-lock using the same PCB would, I believe, require the addition of two solder bridge jumpers. There are issues with through-hole diode, beca...

Hmm not that I know of. There is a keyboard currently in development I believe that lets you plug in whole switches and LEDs without soldering. So maybe a single key PCB version of that would be a start and then use a system of jumper wires to connect the matrix?
