It would take time to provide a carefully-considered path for you, but somehow it would inevitably involve improving the wiki's completeness and comprehensiveness. That is always my primary goal for the community.Riff wrote: ↑Try me! :evilgeek: :evilgeek: :evilgeek:

I could probably translate it but I unfortunately don't have the time at the moment. That was really useful information. You're on a roll lately. With SPARC's help, I've managed to transcribe the applicant: 立石電機株式会社 — Tateishi Electric Co., Ltd. (Omron's old name). He also found out that the invent...

Those unfortunately won't be MX-compatible, as they are M9 switches, not MX. M9 has at least two keycap mounts: MX and non-MX. These use a non-MX mount. I'm not clear on the specifics, but the MX-like mounts appeared to be for the short keycaps — it seems to have been all about short vs tall keycap...

Patents are a whole vortex unto themselves — was the product patented at all, has the record been digitised yet, has the record been given English metadata that I can search for (that mystery patent doesn't even have an applicant — I found it as it was linked from another patent) … and finally, what...

PCB certifications
PCB inscriptions offer a lot of interesting clues, but they also contain a lot of more generic information that's hard to follow. CPC-77 94V-0: https://deskthority.net/w/images/thumb/9/91/Kroy190-PCB-Label.JPG/1280px-Kroy190-PCB-Label.JPG "94V-0" means UL 94 V-0: "burning stops within 10 seconds on ...

Strange Japanese patent
This patent has no inventor or applicant: https://worldwide.espacenet.com/publicationDetails/biblio?CC=JP&NR=H01109148U&KC=U&FT=D# It just bears a very strong semblance to the switchplate of [wiki]Omron Alps-style switch[/wiki]. I managed to find the patent on the Japanese patent website but they of...

Contact material and structure is not well known. Gold plating was more common, but some types used gold inlay. (Examples found to date are listed under [wiki]metal contact switch[/wiki]; like all the similar pages, it still needs a lot of detail adding.) Cherry however used a horizontally split pri...

Only 1 part gold in 30? I did wonder, but my guessing is not good enough: someone must know for certain. So that would make M84x (the last) more gold. The first two (M81x and M82x) have prism contacts, while the last one has cylindrical crossbar, the same as MX switches. Some years ago (mid 2000s, I...

Composition of alloys
Depending on model, Cherry M8 switch contacts used one of the following alloys for the upper block of each contact prism: AuAg 26 Ni 3 AgPd 30 AuAg 10 I can't find anywhere that explains what these mean. Not the elements (those, I recognise), just the composition notation. (For example, why is "AuAg...

Are we ever likely to get the series name/part number(s) of the [wiki]Philips keyswitch[/wiki]? We are one step closer. I found the patent on Espacenet (while trying to find a patent for the switches in the Loewe keyboard), where there is more detail. Laurence Finlayson, the inventor, was working a...

Those are likely not RMD 973 (similar, but not the same). We don't know what they are. Loewe also used Cherry MX, but not with those exact keycaps (especially not with corner LED windows). Do you have any similar keyboard in mind? There are two similar switches, Ericsson RMD 973 (for which I found ...

These switches are damped, either with little damping prongs (something I've yet to photograph — my photography is just not sufficient to do justice to my collection of ~41 Clare/Pendar types, so that job remains pending) or with a rubber mat (as seen on the wiki under S880). This may be what gives ...
