Re: Talking w/ someone selling a Chicony KB5181 and I asked if they could tell me the color of the switches...
Wild speculation: The wiki says Mitsumi is one of the switch providers for the KB-5181, so it could be their coloured MX-mount switches https://deskthority.net/wiki/Mitsumi_miniature_mechanical Alternately if the seller means *each switch* is pink and green -- I seem to remember seeing photos recent...

Re: What's a donor keyboard for housing SMK 2nd Gen Blue Switches?
They're compatible with cherry plates (but not universal plates) and have a unique pin arrangement (not compatible with cherry or alps pcbs). So your options are limited. You can get a Monterey/SMK donor board (defeats the point a bit), or handwire. I built one with this pcb https://www.lfkeyboards....

For a very basic firmware, meant for validating your qmk build environment as much as anything else, start here https://github.com/qmk/qmk_firmware/tree/master/keyboards/handwired/onekey You can have a look and see how the proton_c config differs from the teensy_2 config, for example. Re: Arrow Keys BENEATH Spacebar? Can It Be Done? Who Do It Now?
Sounds like you might get along well with an ErgoDox or other split keyboard with thumb clusters. Otherwise, I like depletedvespene's idea of using a keymap with an arrow cluster defined under both hands. If you're willing to sacrifice, say, your windows keys to be Fn keys instead, then it's easy to...

Best I've found so far: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32875687485.html ISO TKL, cheap, switch brand not indicated, has backlight but of course that can be disabled. Slightly different take on basically the same hardware: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B010IIKHBK/ If you want a fullsize board ...

Re: What is the best chair to stay 12 hours a day typing on the keyboard?
I bought an Aeron a couple years back and it works pretty well for me. I really appreciate the mesh seat and back in the summer. Downsides: the upwards curl on the seat sides makes it uncomfortable to spread your legs out, and I wish I'd gotten it without arms because I haven't found a comfortable p...

imo you should get it working with a basic keymap first, then go back and do your extra layers. Otherwise if it has problems you might not know if it's the firmware or the board.

I see so where do I go from here I got all the essential info about the matrix for a conversion or is there anything else? There's two major operations left (not counting the lcd which is a whole other project) You have to decide where you're going to put the teensy (on your board, probably in plac...

Re: Key Communications keyboard USB converting help.
You've mapped the rows. There will be another set of (more) pins representing the columns. You can look at the back and see traces going across that form the row. The adjacent pins will form the columns. https://i.imgur.com/9OCocP1.jpg The yellow line is a row. The red circles are *examples* of the ...

Re: Could use some help with reverse engineering a typewriter PCB, for use with a Pro Micro and QMK.
This is the first time I've undertaken a project of this caliber. Does it matter that the matrix doesn't seem to be "linear"? That is, each of the ribbon cable "inputs" seems to be associated with a random number or keys, as well as those keys being in random locations. The physical layout isn't to...

Yeah I love this: the case, the caps, the leds, the labels, all look great. At the end of the day, the benefit is that it feels nice to type on. You'll have to decide what that's worth. You're in the states, so you have lots of choice. What do you think about drilling from the holes in the backplate? To my eyes that seems like it would be easier than drilling into slippery plastic. No, but his site is one of a certain type. His blog is part of a marketing funnel for his online programming courses and his consulting services.
I'm not going to subscribe to his newsletter, but I don't mind stuff like this as long as it's not misleading.

The only thing I'm not liking about it is the print screen key must be tapped twice.
