It's just smudges in the plastic as far as I can see.

Yup it is. I have one of those with exact case like on your first picture, FCC ID and without "Sunshine" branding. Switch composition is pretty chaotic in my board - unbranded four-tabs, ATW, APC. Looks like they used everything what was in stock that day during assembly :D

Looks like a foam and foil switch. Just from the outside, the whole spring thing, etc.
