For all those Symbolics fans, whoever found this in an estate sale no doubt had a great find:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/114933868710

Interesting that it notes the microswitches to be tactile. I think I've only ever seen/tried linear microswitches myself ;)
Well I have some tactile wiki/Micro_Switch_SC_Series, and I have twice found pictures of wiki/Symbolics_364000 with SC Series switches.

(I need to add the tactile variant to the SC site, the Symbolics site actually mentions the SC allready)

I thought the description was amusing.
So did I. I think he kindly made fun of us all and our hobby .... with elegance, though.

I remember when they were considered scrap tier Model Fs destined for the FSSK project.

I'm glad that isn't the case anymore.

I doubt that. How many MFs / XTants / harvested Fs were ever built by hobbyists like us? A hundred?

BTW: I still have all the parts, save for the sense pad PCB itself. Should I start a thread and try to get another round rolling? I missed the damn boat!

im sure you can multiplay that by at least 10. there are so many hobbists who we are not even aware of. you only know the ppl who decide to engage on a forum. I havent shared a single project so far...

For sure, tens of thousands enter commercial group buys, without ever posting anywhere about it. But building a Model MF (good name) / FSSK (not so good) is a *lot* more work—with much more learning required—than just clicking buy on a self-assembly solder kit at Massdrop or whatever. I would be surprised if these "community customs" in any way rival the number of XTs, ATs and Bigsfeet out there.

You see how many people wind up asking Ellipse for maintenance help in a product that really is (or should be) as difficult as opening the box and plugging in.

Give us some credit! I haven't asked for any help, and I'm pretty damn close to having this box opening figured out. Any day now!

If one of the other five is an SSK, they only overspent my original Cindy haul by ten bucks. Not too shabby. ;)

I got in on the last Cindy SSK NIB sale and she was up to $150 by then. I am guessing that was around 2014-2015?

My NIB SSK was about that much. The $25 regular used SSK was when she first showed up and *everything* was $25. So good! She was delighted to offload so much stuff and we were jumping over over selves to come get it. Win win!

A chance for someone to bid on an original 1998 HHKB PD-KB02
I have one of these, and while they're not Topre, they are extremely fun to type on being a solid dome w/ slider board & being a cool part of history.

I’m probably promoting a rogue butcher’s (and probable DT member’s) listing, but well,
isn’t $250 for just the case of a G81-3077 SAU simply a steal?

Interest definitely piqued by this. Could you elaborate on the type of dome and slider? What sort of keycap mounting? And still PBT caps? Thanks.

It's a Fujitsu dome w/ slider.

The keycap mounts almost look like a smaller version of alps. They seem to do a pretty damn good job as these KB02's have very little wobble. If you buy one though, expect to have to get the lube out. Mine sounded awful when I first imported it through Yahoo JP auctions.
As for the keycaps, I'm pretty sure they're ABS as mine are shined up like mirrors and were of a deep orange colour prior to a retrobrite which I could really do with doing again as I don't think I got it all the first time.

Thank you! That slider and mount ring a bell - I think I have a board with them in. I’ll hunt it down and see how I like the feel. There was an HHKK Lite 2 on ebay a few weeks back which I almost threw a bid at until finding all the reviews I checked hated the keyfeel. Got to draw a line somewhere or I’ll be buying HHKB branded clothes next. I do actually have some keyboard flip-flops. That’s the trouble with having as wide a search “keyboard” and browsing too late after a glass or two.

I have a Fujitsu dome with slider board and I have to say, it's banished to the basement storage more or less permanently. One of my least favourite dome with slider boards.

Not sure if anyone's posted this yet but hideous NOS Syncan buckling spring boards. Probably worth the asking price, even looking like that.

The price is cheap enough for impulse buy but the shipping costs to USA ruins that for me. I’ve been eyeing this for a long time which I think is also buckling spring. Too pricey based on my weird keyboard valuation logic, but I love the Focus layout:

NIB SSK. Any guesses what it’ll go for? I’m guessing low four figures.

Purchased. I'm not sure I'll be able to stand the look of such a thing on my desk but the switches have intrigued me enough.

I bought a NIB SSK a few years ago and more than half of its rivets were broken. I'm just saying.

Mine’s nicer. Wonder how much it would go for, over here?

Definitely still tighter than my other two.

What offer did the seller accept - or did you buy for asking? I’ve been wanting to have a go on one of these too.
