Diffrerent Brown Switches for Filco and Leopold?

Hi!

I'm using a Filco and Leopold with MX Brown Switches and was wondering if there was any difference in the switches itself (different manufacturer for example). It seems that the switches of the filco have slightly more friction than the Leopold's.

Is there an explanation for this or is it just my imagination?

hm...can't think of anything that would feel like friction. Maybe the keycaps are heavier on the Leopold and that makes it easier to press?

Don't Cherry have more than one plant? Could there be minute variations between those or between tooling?

The metal leaf is factory lubed where the slider bumps actuate it, there could be some variation in the amount applied.

It seemed like "firction" was not the right word to describe it. It's more like the bump of the stem is more noticeable on the Filco than on the Leopold, regardless of the keycaps.

Time for disassembly!
One more thing came to mind that could make a difference: that's when the switches are mounted 180° rotated.
I sure hope we won't have to deal with crap like different factory variance.

The one sort of switches I feel the most differences is brown. I have some brown switches where the tactile bump is very good noticeable. Some other browns the bump is so slight that I have to concentrate to feel it.

And this is not a question of used and new.

That's exactly what I meant. While typing, the browns on the Leopold feel nearly linear to me, where the ones on the Filco have clearly more tactility.

Probably should try to open those switches and see if there is any difference, probably the slider could have something to do with feeling. Different tooling would be my guess.

I think its the plate that differ, if you have a very tight fit the switches are more tactile.

There is a big difference between pcb nd plate mount as well.
