Hello Deskthority community,

I just got in a Noppoo Choc-84 mini keyboard and was doing some testing with it and I am having an issue trying to produce ASCII characters via alt code. I have number lock turned on and have tried using right alt, left alt, right alt + fn, left alt + fn then trying a alt code with no luck. I am not sure what else to try from here out :?: thanks!

Hmm. Try to see what your computer is seeing. Something like this:

I was up to a similar thing yesterday. My 1985 IBM PC/XT obviously isn't recognised by my Mac, but Soarer's converter turns it into a standard full size USB keyboard as far as the computer's concerned. Yet the XT is anything but standard layout! To figure out what I had to remap, I went to Keyboard Viewer and hit keys. Try what you can with your setup. The Choc Mini could be sending different keys than you think.

I just tried on my noppoo choc, and when the NumLock LED is on (all other LEDs off), I can use left Alt + numbers without any problem, for example Alt+065 to get 'A' in Windows notepad.

Right Alt doesn't work, but it doesn't on any keyboard.

Have you tested with a different keyboard plugged in another USB port in the same program? Maybe it's another problem entirely.

Do the "numpad" keys work when using them without Alt with NumLock on?

Yes. I have tested a different keyboard on the same system using a different usb port and it works just fine. I tried using the same usb port with the Noppoo choc mini with no luck. I am conducting tests in a Windows 7 environment. The programs I have tested with are Chrome, Firefox, Windows explorer, and notepad.

Yes the numpad keys work with NumLock on.

I am quite puzzled by this issue.

Thanks!
