I'd keep the MX compatible caps because I'm always up to some layout experiment or another, and I haven't been in enough GBs! But you're probably right. No Alps mounts in there?

And what is this of ghetto o-rings? More bother than its worth?

What's the condition of the NMB board? I've been chasing a rubber dome NMB to try -- if you're interested in parting with it, that is.

The layout reminds me of the IBM M15. Plus a numeric keypad. Split is good.
Does it feel really bad? Could the controller for the split keyboard be interesting?

Mitsumi Hybrid Switches, You can use keycaps from a Commodore 128 or Amiga...
You could replace the buckling rubber rings with springs to get linear feel.
Member hardwired could be interested in one to get a keyboard that feels like his Amiga 1200's.
