Anyone got a contact at Devlin? I don't need their details — I'd just like someone to pass on this topic and see if they still remember the switches that they put in it:

It's those Rafi-Not-Rafi-Might-Be-Rafi switches :)
(Probably ITW/Cortron, but it would be nice to get confirmation of exactly where they came from.)

OK, I've sent him a private message. Will see what happens.

Interesting — they're Devlin-made switches, after Devlin acquired the tooling from ITW. ITW called them "Cortron" switches, so no official name, and there's no documentation left any more, so no part numbers either. The switches were discontinued in 2005!

I'm leaving all this electromagnetic malarkey to HaaTa :P I've put up a brief page on the wiki about the switches, but it's not really my area, and most of the work needed is in relation to the whole history of the ITW/Cortron range, which is HaaTa's area (he's got oodles of these old ITW/Cortron keyboards).
I am simply happy that the sun won't set on 2013 with their identity still a mystery. We now know how they died, and an idea of how they were born.

I need to get rid of stuff, not accumulate more … I still have to get the good switches out of that melted keyboard you sent me and then bin the rest of it :P

Recycle bin the rest. They don't have a specific prohibition of melted keyboards at recycling collection points I've seen, although I wouldn't put it past them. Technically, I doubt I've ever put anything into exactly the right container. The picky gits.
