Yep. Several people have said that. Yet, in all keyboard I have seen where the Backspace has a shiny spot, the shiny spot was in the middle.matt3o wrote:I agree on all except for the backspace position. I always hit it to the left of the cap because it is easier/faster to reach. So lenovo position seems legit.

The issue I see with this is it'll be a pain for doing anything design related with. I frequently use the F keys and having no real F keys will make it a pain in the ass to use. I also hit the backspace key dead center out of habit from learning to type on a screwed up keyboard (backspace had no stabilizer...right shift stuck so I never use it, etc). I could adjust to hitting the left side but my T410 works well enough for me.
At the same time this here is just putting the Thinkpad name on another consumer device. The Carbon series never really were aimed for the business range, that's what the T and X series are for. Every business I've seen that gets the touch screen Thinkpads get an X230t or X240t, of which are cheaper anyways.

They went to 'chicklet' keys with an odd rounded bottom edge? Might not be that bad, but then they moved PgUp/PgDn to the bottom right, one of the worst positions for navigation keys imo as you need to move your hand off the keyboard to use.
I will be clinging to my t420

Some time ago already, starting with the Edge series. The "precision keyboard" is quite okay actually, people do compliment the feel. Usually not the diehard TP fans though, but that's more because of the change in layout, the underlying mechanics are the same as it seems. I happen to like the PG buttons next to the arrows because it seems natural to me to have the navigation keys in one cluster. Actually mapped the keys in this way on my 8200 too.Spearman wrote:D:They went to 'chicklet' keys with an odd rounded bottom edge? BTW, they introduced backlit keys with the new keyboard too...

So yeah, as a user of the Neo-Layout I'm screwed. I need capslock as Mod3 to access the layer with punctuation signs.
This layout makes the keyboard practically unusable to me. Great.
So if my trusty T400 breaks down I might have to look into buying a used T430.

That layout does some rather... WTF design decisions there.
Lenovo really has started to get weird on their keyboard layouts. And, while a 60% layout does get almost that radical, I don't see anyone integrating a 60% into a laptop, until now (well, this isn't actually a 60%, but it's trying to be one).
(And, worse, the TrackPoint buttons aren't buttons, they're areas on the touchpad.)

This is my first posting and here is my carbon x1 and I like the keyboard on it. It isn't the model m I have home or the new at101w I just bought nib, but it is nice. Not sure what I think of the newer design show on here. I made work order me the desktop model so I would get used to it when I use my desktop at work.

That seems terribly inefficient, these are my fingers posting and they do a perfectly good job at pressing the keys!48548 wrote:This is my fist posting
