Hello all and thank you for looking at this amazing opportunity. I've recently come across the Ergodox keyboard and instantly fell in love, only problem is I don't have one!!! So I am starting a group buy. I've been quoting and gathering the information necessary and if we can get enough possible orders we can get these at a much lower cost than I've been able to find anywhere else.

Sourcing all of the parts individually is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive, quotes on laser cut acrylic alone are in the 300 dollar range for small runs. that puts the keyboard far out of range for my tastes. Good luck finding an Ergodox on Ebay. AND MASSDROP! i like the idea but they do not truly pass the value on to their consumers. At the quantity they are purchasing they upsell the product so they can get their money worth, and how long do we wait for the next round to take place? That is the point of our Group Buy. Quantity is key and its not until we get to about the 200 mark where it is viable for this Group Buy. Im using every resource that everyone else has available to them, Ive just found great deals on the major components that make this job costly which allows me to be able to take part in these lower prices as well. Im no business owner, im just not willing to pay over 200+ dollars for something I KNOW can be much cheaper.

Heres the Breakdown:

Code: Select all

  We will be ordering the ErgoDox Backlit DIY kit (no keycaps or backlight mech)

-We need 250 full keyboards(no keycaps or backlight mech) minimum to be able to be able to make this purchase at the prices i want to pay, otherwise its just another 200+ dollar Group Buy.

-I will supply all Cherry MX Red, Blue, and Brown switches(will adjust prices for no switches but its honestly an 18 dollar difference). Make it explicitly clear which color you want. All diodes(SMD and thru hole), boards, parts, bits and pieces will be here as well(no keycaps or backlight mech). 3 Red 3mm LEDS included. The rest is up to you:P (Assembly Required).

-Im still discussing whether we can do multiple colors for PCB's or if we have to go with one. Till then let me know what color PCB you would prefer (BLK,BLU,RD,GRN,YLW,WHT)

-At 250 orders this allows us to pay 175usd SHIPPED WORLDWIDE. You pay 175usd, you get an ErgoDox DIY kit in the mail.

-At 300 orders we hit my personal lowest possible i could source parts and still be able to ship(starts to cost me more) 150usd Shipped to your door!

For international orders it will make everyones life easiest with a proxy on the other side of the pond. Any volunteers that wouldnt mind helping gateway some orders out it would greatly reduce the hassle that comes with INTL shipping.
Now that is much lower than i could find anywhere, even from a private seller. But i cant just fork out the money to invest in that many parts for the need of just one keyboard LOL. So tell your friends, family, co-workers, neighbors, anyone you know to take part in this buy. its the perfect chance to be a first time owner like myself, have a backup for work or gaming, or as a great gift that will no longer take an arm and a leg to afford. Please post here on the forum with your interest and also email [email protected] with your Name, Location, and Quantity (only send that to email). Whenever we reach 250 orders a timer will begin for an agreed upon date to determine the close. If we dont meet 250 keyboards then we tried. Thank you and let the games begin!

Bear in mind shipping to Europe is costly and will mean 20% VAT plus customs handling fees if declared properly…

Meanwhile VAT within the EU is zero.

@Muirium
Definitely gonna find a proxy to make this fair to the Intl Buyers as it will be extremely expensive and unreasonable to charge everyone more for shipping. I have considered the shipping cost and that's all factored in to the final purchase price granted I have a person to forward all of the orders to

The only problem is no case OR keycaps, And its 150 shipped. The case is the most expensive part of the build and sourcing A few individual makes the cost like massdrop, what I want to avoid
