"Sculptured" keycaps.

Hi! When we want to put up a GB with non-sculptured keycaps, we have to choose between either DSA family, LP family, or KT family. But is it possible to do a trick, and ask Signature Plastics to produce keycaps from a sculptured family, but all as e. g. "SA Row 3"? Then the keycaps would be interchangeable on each row. Possible or not? And: reasonable or nonsense?

Possible. Just a bit boring:

The same 20% keyboard with multiple rows:

SP surely wouldn't have anything against you asking. Round 5's mods are mostly row 3 anyway, so it's the one with the best availability in SA.

Yeah... but can they do this with any legend without incurring large fees?
BTW. I am also curious if they could "print" a legend upside-down.

Of course it is possible, many group buys in the SA family are just ROW-3 (with no additional fees). Recently we had the commando and the penumbra group buys, both in row-3. I might be wrong but I seem to recall that even the official Filco tall keycap set is on SA profile all on row 3 (edit: found it)
The midnight set will be released today or tomorrow in DCS and later in SA with an "all row 3" option.
I actually like both solutions (flat and sculpted).

Upside-down or sideways are no problem for SP.Findecanor wrote:Yeah... but can they do this with any legend without incurring large fees?

It is the upright position that causes them trouble!

I'm not 100% sure about using legends for different rows or sizes, but the expensive SVG-graphics cost only once.
The normal text-legend legend fees are usually peanuts and thanks to Round 4 and 5, most legends exist in most rows anyway.

"Calm Depths", too. The main three alpha rows were row 3, the 2 top and 1 bottom rows were other profiles though.matt3o wrote:Recently we had the commando and the penumbra group buys, both in row-3.
I have Calm Depths, and it's ok, but I think I will prefer the sculpted solution of Round 5, even with its row 3 shift anomaly.
