Hi,

FYI:

We are talking about a model M 122 RJ45 terminated. It was too dirty. I could not stand it.

I have put the cable completely into the water with the caps and the teeth cleaning tabs. This includes the inner termination as well as the RJ45.
I cleaned it together with the keycaps and let it dry at least two hours. I then helped it in this process with my wife's hair dryer. A powerful one.

I mounted it back and plug it into my converter. It worked back.
This does not mean that it will work with other cases, it only means what it is written. It has worked one time.

Cheers

the cable completely under water with the connector also submerged? I´d have serious doubts...BUT ok if it works for you why not?

Yes, the complete cable. Note that the connectors are made of plastic.
I made sure that there was no water nor shortcuts before connecting the cable to the keyboard.

The problem may be that water will wick into the wire and sheathing and cause oxidation or corrosion.

I stopped submerging cables when I realized that the damage may be slow but long-term.

Sometimes I wonder whether wetting them with a water-displacement substance (such as WD40) would allow them to be submerged in water without taking it in deep.

The water is probably sucked into the cable by capillary action
