[IC] GMK Cyrillic Alphas and Red Mods

Hello Deskthority! The team at KappaKapps wants to gauge interest in the following keysets. This is an X-Post from Geekhack.

The set will consist of two parts:

Cyrillic Alphas



This set can be used in conjunction with the Classic Beige set to create an original Cherry Cyrillic layout. The colors are accurate to original Cyrillic keyboards.

The black alphas are doubleshot injection molded by GMK and then the red Cyrillic sub legends are pad printed and specially coated over.

Red Modifiers [TKL Kit]



This set is desgined to be used with Cyrillic alphas if you don't want to buy Classic Beige and with existing alphas. The kit will cover all keys needed for most TKL layouts.

The entire keyset is double shot injection molded by GMK using original Cherry molds.

The number before the x denotes the width of the keycap relative to the height of a standard keycap. Unless otherwise noted, the height of each keycap is 1x.

Another component of this Interest Check is to have extra keys included in this set. GMK will also add a bonus key to each of these keysets for free. Let us know what you want to see! I have a White on Red "Code" key in mind for the Red Modifiers, but I would like to hear what people want for Cyrillic Alphas.


Keycap Trays



In addition, GMK has some nice keycap trays. This picture is the current tray. The new retail trays will be available soon and have a similar look to the one on the picture.



The team at KappaKapps is excited to do our next GMK keyset. If you don't know what we do, we're an up and coming artisan keycap and keyset vendor. The sets will be priced with minimal overhead for any unexpected occurrences. Our goal is to help the keyboard community and those in need, so all of our profits go to charity. Our June profits will go to Extra Life. If you want to support our cause, you can check out our keycap UnDead Clackin. We have more artisan keycaps in the works in various materials. We also have another color version of the red mods (Electric BlueGaloo) available on our site for preorder in case you missed out on the GB!

The way we plan to run this group buy is to collect orders beforehand. If we are close to the MOQ (250 orders) we will pay for the sets needed to tip the MOQ ourselves. Once the money is sent to GMK and they manufacture our sets, we will package and ship each set ASAP.

I do see the usual issues in your endeavour:

• no AltGr key, which all national ISO layouts need instead of the right Alt key
• forcing people into a (in your case) Google account
• nonsensical shipping of German-made caps from the US to Europe

Besides, there are a few things I would object to as a EU (and specifically German) consumer used to high protection standards.
Quotes from your webpage and my objections:

• "Prices do not include service, payment and delivery charges" - prices named should include everything you charge. What is e.g. a "service charge", and how much is it?
• "There is a 1 month warranty on all products [covering] manufacturing faults" - in other words, no warranty for example if due to poor quality materials keycaps become brittle and their stems break after 3 months. For your information, in Germany the legal warranty is 2 years and the burden of proof even rests with the seller in the first 6 months.
• "Kappa Kapps has the discretion to update this privacy policy at any time. When we do, we will post a notification on the main page of our Site. […] You acknowledge and agree that it is your responsibility to review this privacy policy periodically and become aware of modifications" - in other words, you are entitled to e.g. decide to sell your customers' data to Facebook without even informing them beforehand.

Hi, while these are valid concerns. I can address them from our standpoint.

• We charge shipment outside of the listed price as do many other online shopping services. At the moment we do not have a service charge. By going through the process of ordering a product from us, one can clearly see this.
• Unfortunately, do not provide a longer warranty. As far as I know, not many artisan keycaps providers offer any form of warranty.
• This section in the privacy policy allows us to make changes that are necessary to ensure that our privacy policy can be up to date. Many websites use a similarly worded privacy policy. As for the issue itself, we haven't changed our privacy policy yet, and we plan to leave it as is. The only time we would change it is if we had legal issues that emerge. While we are entitled to use customer information, we have only used them for our own analytics and have not shared or sold them to a third party. And I can assure you, in the future, we do not plan to sell one's customer information.
