Keyboard independent keyboard programmer

Hi all,

recently I bought a pok3r III with MX Clear switches and am very, very happy with it ...except with its programming facilitates, it's awkward to do it just seeing LEDs blinking and it is somewhat limited. I would prefer that the "PN" key just send a key code to my operating system, it's exactly in the right spot to press it [1]

...anyway this brought me a great (new?) idea: A USB proxy, that allows remapping keys, using custom keyboard layouts, "hybrid keys" [2] and other stuff including maybe advanced scripting. This could be some kind of USB to USB adapter, so you can use your favorite keyboard layout/configuration everywhere with every keyboard. Just put one in your key ring.

I am seriously beginning to think to do this as a side project (I work as a software developer). I'd love to assemble a small batch of working prototypes. Does this sound like something people would find useful and want to have? Give me some Input :-)

cheers,
kkkeyboard

A USB to USB converter that allows remapping? It's a great idea, a guy called hasu has already got something similar up and running, might be worth speaking with him for some pointers.

hasu's firmware is top notch and by all accounts his hardware is pretty badass too.

Yep, what hasu did is honestly nicer than what I was thinking of.
So I'll forget about doing this :-/ :-/ :-/
