Help with Filco

I have a full size Filco that has been having problems connecting over USB. When I plug it in, it will occasionally connect after some flickering of the LEDs.

What I've tried so far is to replace the cable and one suspect capacitor. I'm thinking controller? Unfortunately, since there is no daughter card on this one, I can't use a bpiphany replacement.

Has anyone seen one of these? So, what's next? Am I out of luck?
