Cleaning, import

Hi guys, do u have some tips for cleaning keyboard?
I usually remove keycaps and use air and a soft cloth. I saw some grease or something like that in 2-3 site, for grease switch. What about that?

I really want import some keyboard like varmilo or leopold, but i`m really afraid of tax and custom fees. Someone have some experience about import from US or KR?
Some guys tell me about 30-40 euros tot+keyboard cost.
On mechanicalkeyboard I find a leopold fc660m for 89$+44$ shipping...I should add 22% TAX on 89 or on 133$? Then I must add 3-4% for custom fees?

For cleaning keyboards I tend to take all the keys off with a puller and just use water with a little bit of dish soap in it. Warm water. Sometimes if I'm lazy ill just let them soak for a couple hours if I am not lazy ill just use an old toothbrush and clean them off manually.

As for importing stuff. I've had hit or miss with customs. It depends on the seller and if they wrote the customs form properly. I doubt youll have to pay a customs tax i think that only applies if its a certain amount. Also there is trade agreements with US and KR so there is that. The issue you'll most likely have is either them calling you asking what this is which has happened to me when I imported an MSX computer from Japan one time or them seizing it. I've never had anything seized though but i have heard of it happening. This is US customs mind you. Just be fully aware of the risks of international shipping and you'll be fine. You are always better off if you deal with a company then from someone off ebay or someone you know shipping it to you cause they are prolly used to filling out customs forms. Cause most seizures or calls are from forms that wasn't filled out clear enough or they can't read it or there was a new guy there that day. Also be prepared for the package to get thrashed to to all hell and back and if your packaged is searched don't expect customs to be kind to it.

Oook and what about grease? I saw a lot of type...but I never used and I dont know how

I talk with 1 seller (widebasket on ebay from korea with 100% positive feedback) and he told me that he can write "gift" and "20$" on my pack for dont pay any tax or custom fees. But I think sometimes this dont work, and usually I`m so unlucky person.
The keyboard cost about 120 euro (leopold fc660m), so I dont know if It`s worth try to buy there and maybe pay 150-160 euro or leave...and try to buy from US, that cost 130$+22% tax+costum fees.
What do u think about it?

As for grease I tend to use PTFE silicone based lube. As for lubing it depends on what switch the keyboard is. Cherry types are quite easy to lube. Normally never had to lube my model M. Alps shouldn't be too hard as well.


I only have import experience with EU (namely UK,Norway) and Japan. As I said it's always a crapshoot when importing. Normally anywhere from western Europe is fine. And Finland, Norway, Sweden are good. I have heard of people getting some flak from former soviet bloc states but its normally the ones that are super close to Russia thats the Issue.

As for KR you should no have no problems like i said south korea and us are pretty good with each other. I can't guarantee anything though. Even with Europe it can be a crap shoot. I am sorry I can't give you advice either way cause its basically boils down to risk. How much risk do you wanna take? If you can't accept your item being seized or broken in transit its always better to use a US based seller. If you don't mind the Risks then try it and 99.9% of the time you'll be okay.

As needed. Like if you feel the switch being crunchy or not right feeling its prolly time to lube it. As for a keyboard thats in storage just do it before hand and it will be fine when you bring it out.
