Those stepped keys.. Why do they look so appealing?

I loved stepped key caps in moderation - ie on longer keys around the edges. Stepped 1x caps are silly.

That IBM 3104 of mine is insane with the stepped keys, just too much.

Yeah, making the enter key a single unit is not something that I'm fond of at all. I find it hard to believe that a single unit backspace is usable to me, though.

Basically the same as the XT Model F, and the XT is arguably worse because of layout and the additional 1u stepped keys around the keypad...

The outside steps on the early space invader boards are actually a helpful feature: for whatever reason the way Hi Tek decided to stabilize their larger keycaps is absolutely terrible, so making the pressable area smaller is a big advantage, especially for the right shift key.

Personally I wish they had shrunk all the keys to a maximum length of 1.5u, and just let the edges of the keyboards be a more ragged shape.

I got this Televideo terminal ANSI/IBM-101-layout board a year and a half ago, which I someday intend to take the keycaps from to put on a smaller-format custom keyboard:

Fohat got the other one from the same seller, and I think he was interested in converting it as-is, but it’s not clear what the protocol is, some terminal thing going through some 6P6C-type connector
Great Televideo 965 Enhanced PC keyboard. I hope you can pull out the Caps lock, Num lock, Scroll Lock and space bar to show me the switch type they have. This question always on my mind when you posted the photos on geekhack

Sorry to necro this thread, but I just got one of these same ADDS boards from Cindy (even more dirty, I think).

Before I waste a lot of time, can someone tell me whether I can just wire it up to a Teensy and use either Soarer's Converter or Soarer's WYSE Converter firmware without additional wiring or gymnastics?

I got the same one from Cindy (although much cleaner I must note) and I plugged it into my 4P4C->PS2 adapter, and plugged that into soarer's converter and there was nothing happening. I tried the same setup with a Dolch PAC and worked without any issues.

I still haven't tried it with Soarer's WYSE converter, because I have no available pro micros right now.

Oh man, what I would do for a NIB ANSI Space Invaders :)
