Spherical/round keycaps for Cherry MX

Hello

I just found some pics on reddit of modded keyboards with the Round 5 or 6 caps. Pretty awesome - yet although I searched the web thoroughly I could't find out where to buy them.

The problem: I am looking for a white/grey/red setup in a ISO DE-Layout for a Vortex Poker 3 and unfortunately the Round 6 leftovers don't contain any white alpha caps anymore, so I'm stuck. Even if, the would cost me over 150$ or something like this since I have to combine multiple packs and cannot use half the caps of them.

Any recommendations for me?

Best regards
Max

I am planning to offer 5 full white R5 sets, incl all keys for 105 ISO layout (incl EU language pack and Alpha keys). That might be something for you. But only selling the full sets…not gonna disrupt them. Hope I have it up on the marketplace till end of weekend.

That sounds tempting! I definitely will take a look as soon as they are online :)

Further hints are welcome, of course.

Are there really no other options?

Round 5 was a group buy that happened two years ago. The only keycaps from that GB you'll find are used caps that someone is selling off.

Round 6 is a group buy that hasn't completed production yet, but the quantities were fixed earlier this year and so you can only buy what is left at this point. Or buy from someone who wants to sells theirs.

It is the nature of custom keycaps, especially sphericals made for the mech community by Signature Plastics. These are extremely small, limited runs that you have to learn about early on and get in on from the beginning, or else try to buy used through forum classified threads like this one.

Signature Plastics doesn't keep "stock" of spherical keycaps in the hopes of selling them in the future. They sort of hope to do that in some small measure, but it hasn't happened yet because their presses are running full tilt on all the keycap group buys that are pouring in.

Thanks for your answer. Since I am new to the mech keyboard stuff this did clarify a lot. I will keep an eye open on used stuff then.

As an alternative you can buy blanks from SP.
I think they have enough for a standard keyboard.
