I just love the way those 2 match

I recently bought MX Master 2S to match this keyboard but it didn't work out well. The colour was a bit too light and it actually started to get very dirty in the rubber thumb rest area so I'm going to return it.
I scored this MX Master (first revision) in Stone colour for only 50€ in local store as it was on sale and this one matches perfectly - just have a look:

And a picture with MX Master 2S showing difference in colour:

beautiful, my original MX master in black is falling apart so I'll have to pick one of these up to go with my ssk and hhkb

Reading this forum and Geekhack it's alarming how many products get returned — at this rate you have to wonder how any retailers remain in business.

Daniel, I got it from Logitech directly and as you can see on this picture it started changing colour just after 2 hours of use.

That's not acceptable and if people will not return those mice, they will never know they have to research and improve materials they use.

I know how this story from the other side as at FalbaTech I've been dealing with returns and it actually hurt us a lot more (we're tiny 2 people company), than multi milion corporation. But I also know that at least for us it's a sign that we have to research more and improve to satisfy our customers.

So I really think it would be bad for us all if I kept this mouse, or just threw it away and remained silent about it.

Was there any advantages to going with the second gen mx master or are they both essentially the same thing?

It's higher DPI (4000 vs 1600 DPI of older gen), and supports Logitech Flow which is kind of simpler version Synergy software.
I actually always have my mice set to 1600 DPI when using my 3x1080p screens.
But yeah, my previous daily mouse was Zowie EC1A and the difference in tracking precission is staggering compared to this Logitech mice. On the other hand I don't game much these days, and even if I want to I can always connect a gaming mouse :)

now the ec1a looks like a non-ambi that's subtle enough for me to maybe one day consider using. I really don't understand the attraction of these lumpy beats like the mx master  :P

Quite honestly I went with this mouse for its colour mostly, but I really like the scroll wheel too, which on all gaming mice I tried was pretty bad. I must say SteelSeries Sensei had the best one out of them but still no match for this mice though.

I had 2 performance MX mice in the past, and I briefly tried the MX Master in store, so I knew what I'm going into. I knew that battery life will be amazing. I knew about scroll wheel being best in business. I knew that tracking will be shit compared to gaming mouse. I didn't know I will enjoy the gesture button so much, and I was wrong about the tracking, it's worse than what I remember. I'm biased though as the previous mouse I used had the best tracking in business pretty much :)

As for Zowie, they do ambidextrous mice too if you need that. Not sure if they use the same sensor and switches though as I never bothered checking.

Oh and the shape of MX Master is really nice. I prefer large mouse. My favourites are actually pretty big: DeathAdder, original silver Sensei, EC1A (EC2A was too small for my liking), G602, from non gaming mice also: Performance MX, MS IntelliMouse (ancient, but I grew up using it), and MS Explorer.
I have pretty small hands (or rather big palms with short fingers) though. While I'm fine using those large-ish mice, I do like trackballs like KEM or DT225, LTrac is absolute unusable for me as I can't reach scroll wheel. I don't use trackballs nowadays though. I only keep DT225s in FalbaTech's machine shop as it's really great to control CNC :)

yeah, i use a ZA12, I should've gotten the 11 though because the 12 is tiny for my big hands

zowie uses sensors and scroll wheels in generations, so if all the models are the same year they should all use the same sensor scroll and buttons, that said, there are probably exceptions. I used to have an FK and I found the shape to be a downgrade from my intellimouse, but the sensor could deal with my dank flickshots in cs go whereas the intelli would freak. the ZA is much much more similar to the intellimouse/wheelmouse.
