BTC 8190 Smart Office Keyboard - Rainy Curb Find!

I found this keyboard laying on the curb next to the dumpsters. I know, it's a rubber dome and you don't like them. but this has a lot of cool things going for it!




I found it wet and with bits of hair in it!








So. what's so interesting about this keyboard? Well. first of all, it has that little orange nub under the space bar, which is used for scrolling and the buttons around it that are used for scrolling *and* moving around in text. The other buttons around it are Cut, Copy, Paste, and something to do with ABC.

The Nav cluster also has some cool stuff - there is foward and back for your web browser, and under the arrow keys, there's App., which you can use for switching between programs.

And of course, there are the extra functions on the top, like Word, Excel, PowerPoint and calendar keys, some more Internet keys, a Computer key and a calculator key, and some multimedia keys.

And some of the keys on the top are programmable!!!

All of these features are only available after you install the driver, though.

The keys are also very tactile, which is good! I would give this keyboard a 6 or 7/10. It won't replace my Cherry MX Black G80 1800 though!

Absolutely nothing wrong with rubber domes, there's far worse mechanical switches out there, and I personally prefer a decent rubber dome to the majority of modern switches e.g. Cherry Blues and Browns so thank you for sharing this.

It looks like this would be one hell of a keyboard for someone that invests their time in proof reading text as it negates the use of a mouse and allows the user to focus primarily on the keyboard.
Does the little red thing below the space bar move freely in all directions? Like a Joystick for example? If so that's pretty dank.

The built in wrist rest is also really awesome, something which older rubber domes seem to use a lot and mechanical keyboards seem to avoid (Not really sure why?) Reminds me a lot of my Microsoft wireless 7000 keyboard which, apart from the loud as all hell space bar, is a pretty great rubber dome.

Also does this board use the MX style sliders? Or is it your bog standard rubber dome?

Thank you for asking! The orange nub can't be used as a mouse, but still would be useful for writers. If it was a seperate mouse, this keyboard would've had a a seperate PS/2 mouse connector.

It is a standard rubber dome. Would've been cool if it was a mech.
