It gets weirder. I've looked at the photos of the later type of [wiki]Futaba MA series alternate action[/wiki] and instead of that galaxy-shaped plate spring, there's an irregular-shaped flat piece of metal. How on earth does that work?

I'm guessing that it's linear (having a clicky alternate action switch would be weird), and I'm guessing that it's what's inside the linear version of these switches. However, no linear keyboard has yet been conclusively proved to exist, so we have nothing to examine.
