All of those little rectangles in the separator are green leds, but they aren't wired up to do anything right now. I only have one layer currently and the big orange square one is wired to light up while that layer is active. I would like to do something with the others at some point. Thought about just having them all light up while it's active.
I used the original switches from the typewriter. They're linear and a bit heavy, but they are satisfying to press. I'm also using the plate from the typewriter. I cut it down with an angle grinder. It's also wired up using wire salvaged from the typewriter. Glad it inspired you to create an account. It was a fun project.
