Cherry G80-0275 / Taylorix-System 8 Modul SHK201

Today I present another odd G80 keyboard, the G80-0275 with plate mounted (?) Cherry M8 switches. I got this keyboard hoping it would have decent feeling Cherry M9 switches and planned to install a new controller, but was disappointed in that regard by the terribly scratchy 2.5mm travel M8 switches. Nontheless this is a unique looking and very well built keyboard, which makes a nice addition to my collection.

The keyboard originally belonged to a Taylorix-System 8, which is apparently a Triumph-Adler 1600 rebrand. There also seem to be at least 2 versions of this keyboard, some come with the typical DSA-like Cherry M8 keycaps.
The date of manufacture seems to be somewhere in 1983 based on date codes of some of its ICs.

It uses black linear M8 switches with diodes for NKRO installed next to the switches, strangely there is a 1mm metal plate which is riveted to the PCB in several places, but not actually attached to any of the switches, presumably to increase the rigidity of the huge PCB. The case consists of a thick painted plastic frame which has a thinner plastic front panel glued to it, and it also features a 1mm metal back plate. The total weight is approximately 3.1kg.

Great looking board, shame about the switches

Great M8 Black DPST. Which switches are used for other special key positions? Spacebar or other places should have different switches.If you’re going to replace these switches, I will be happy to buy them.As you can see, I'm a cherry switches collector.

The switch below the spacebar looks just like the others, however the spring seems to be heavier as expected. For the moment I don't plan on desoldering the switches because I don't want to destroy such a pretty keyboard, and the doublesided PCB would make it a delicate task.
