Model F ANSI Mod Key Hard To Press

I turned my model F left shift from whatever it was before (1.5 width maybe?) to a standard Model M left shift key. I did this by taking out the barrel spring and flipper of the neighboring barrel and inserting the Model M stabilizer peg thing into that barrel. It works well if hit straight on but if I hit the key towards the outside or bottom corner there is too much resistance to press the key. Does anyone have any ideas on how to address this? Thanks!!

Definitely want to make sure that you used the horizontal stabilzer rather than a vertical one. I believe the horizontal ones have the indent exactly in the center whereas vertical stabilizers are off center and only work if in the right orientation. Not sure I see the pictures in your post to confirm that. Also you'll want to make sure that you've completely removed the hammer/spring from that spot if you didn't already. i've thought about just removing the spring for a quick conversion, and I can tell you that doesn't work. A small amount of lubricant on the peg that glides down the stabilizer on the M keycap usually will smooth things out a little more too.

These pictures shows the two styles of stabilizers and how they have to be placed, note the vertical one is rotated 180° depending on if it's installed for an ISO Enter key or on the outer edge of the numpad.
