I recently picked up a Gateway 2000 AnyKey off eBay and it's in great shape, only thing is the Alt keys don't work. I reset the board using the procedures I found online (hold Crtl+Suspend Macro on boot) and it definitely cleared the board but the Alt keys still aren't sending scan codes according to xev on Linux. Tried with a couple of USB adapters and a real honest PS/2 port.
Anyone have experience with these boards? I may just return it and keep looking for one of these, would like to get this one working though since it's in such great shape otherwise.

I've got one of them, played around with it a bit so far, but never noticed the Alt keys not working on mine Oo . Maybe the trace is oxidised?

Perhaps, a little reluctant to take this one apart as the seller OK'ed a return. Couldn't find a decent photo of the membrane/traces to see if the Alt keys shared the same line. Since it's just those keys I'm thinking whatever micro-controller they have in there to handle the programming is going out. If it were a trace I would guess it wouldn't effect both Alt keys or would effect more than just the Alt keys. Most of the membrane boards I've taken apart have way more than two keys per trace.
I'm just going to send this once back, get a refund and try my luck with another one. They're just hard to find cheap. Wasn't terriblyimpressed with the typing feel but the utility of the programmability was awesome. Made work emails a lot easier when I could just attach "eat a bag of dicks Bob" to a hot key.
