I've mapped a lot of matrices and many of them are compatible with the Model M, meaning that the the rows are all alikeand the columns are all alike, just rearranged. This means that all you have to do is swap contacts around when connecting the controller to the matrix.
I've found a few USB's where they are compatible but no wireless. Is there a collection of matrix maps out there. I've considered adding my maps to the wiki pages for the keyboards I've done but don't know if I'd be allowed to.
Looking for a wireless keyboard with a Model M compatable matrix.

A sneaky idea. Seems unlikely though. Model M has a very specific matrix. Matrices really do vary wildly between keyboard models and brands. You’d be very lucky to find one identical. Though if you do, be sure to share it.

Although, if you could find an identical matrix, you get all the power optimisation and battery life for free. Community firmware aren’t designed with wireless in mind and tend to suck… batteries.

Right, most open firmwares do not care about wireless.
But somebody was posting here about a wireless custom keyboard build with a great power consumption figures (IIRC, two AAA batteries lasting for 6 months). It was not a contoured keyboard so I did not store off the link. Maybe somebody else will remember.
