Converting Pingmaster

I have never done something like this before, but I think I did everything right. I flashed the hex file onto the pro micro using arduino builder and it is finding it is as ibm 4704 keyboard converter under devices. I don't know what else to do. https://imgur.com/a/1C8IEl8 has images of the wiring and the device manager

What's the problem that you seem to be having? Make sure the keyboard is connected to the converter before plugging the converter into your PC.

it is connected but none of the keys are doing anything when pressed.

Your wiring is correct and it seems you flashed the firmware fine since the computer is recognizing it.

Hasu's docs say that a pull up resistor may be needed. So certainly could be a reason.

First thing I would check is whether the chips on the keyboard are getting power. Do you have a multimeter? Would it be possible to show some photos of the inside of the keyboard. Particularly the chips. A photo like this:

I don't have a multimeter, but i could open up the keyboard although i don't trust myself much to do that without breaking something.

I'll try to think and see if I can come up with any other ways to troubleshoot.

Meanwhile, it would be helpful to see the insides. There could maybe be an obvious sign like a burst capacitor or something. I have to admit, I don't have any experience with this particular keyboard so everything I say is geared toward keyboards in general.

Might be helpful to see the output of hid_listen

I don't remember if TMK outputs debug info by default.

i talked to mrkeebs on discord for a while. He made a conversion tutorial that I followed and he says there is nothing obviously wrong so i'm not sure what to do. I will look at the output of hid_listen

Would you mind sharing the tutorial you followed? It would help to see that.

But I'm afraid I'm just level-1 tech support here. You definitely want Hasu himself. I'd recommend posting your issue in the official thread:

If I think of anything I'll be sure to let you know.

i used a micrometer and the pro micro wasnt sending any power to the keyboard for whatever reason. I soldered it to a new promicro and it is working now so im all good :)
