Hello,
I just came across something very weird and try to understand wtf it is. Its a cherry G81 with plate mount mx black switches, the label says MX3000 instead of MY3000..this is very weird imo. Can someone explain?

Those MX Blacks are PCB mounted, and afaik, most G8*-3000 have the "MX 3000" mention on them
My guess is that the case was swapped, and the keycaps might have been as well (5 number article codes usually are WK and thin, and given that it is a G81, the bottom row would be all over the place, with that in mind, these caps are thick, and therefore are probably WKL, so they shouldn't be from the same board)
A weird mix indeed

Every single cherry G80 I have seen had MX3000 and all G81 MY3000. I have also never seen a plate in a G8'-3000 or 1000.
Its definitely not just a swapped case

This is 100% not plate mounted. Those are PCB mount stabilizers, and can clearly be seen fully. The tops of the clips are typically obscured by the plate if there indeed is one.

Why is the pcb grey?

What color does the pcb look to you? Is this somekind of "is the dress blue/black or gold/white" thing? It doesnt even barely look brownish/greenish to me.
