Hey guys. I have an old Lexmark Model M that has something goofy wrong with it electronically but I'm too dumb to diagnose the issue. Also it's dirty and old and looks like crap.
I'm thinking about sending it off to Unicomp for a repair.
From what I understand, if it's borked, they just replace it with a Unicomp part. I don't mind that, but it's not ideal. Mine's basically the model they continued making.
Does anyone have any experience sending that stuff in?
Unicomp repair service experience?

People regularly repair old model ms and fs with unicomp parts. In some cases, such as the plastic "plate", the unicomp one is actually more durable. It just depends on what the part is. Another good resource for you could be Joe at brand new model f keyboards.

My understanding is that they don't usually delve too deep into "diagnosing" your problem.
Unless it is something obvious and simple, they usually just replace old with new, and that often means pulling out the entire internal assembly and dropping in a new one.

Hi, be extremely careful sending things to Unicomp. They are a great company and I like that they exist, but they will straight swap the entire module. If that doesn't matter to you, then proceed, otherwise don't.
I would recommend you come to the Deskthority Discord chat channel. This is found just under the deskthority banner in the tab called "chat." I would then send a PM to user "@troyfletcher" who works at unicomp to ask specifically about whatever issue you have.
