I don't know exactly how it happened, but an acquaintance of mine had a mouse that would randomly shock her. With electricity, to be specific.Findecanor wrote: 04 Dec 2020, 13:19 I'm not sure what it was, but I think it could have been a variation of Siemens STB that had a weird sensation when pressing.
It was scratchy on the way down in a way that resembled getting shocked with electricity, as when touching an electric appliance that isn't plugged into an earthed socket. Disconcerting feeling.
How to make the worst switch possible?

Sounds like either exposed ground wire or static electricity.hellothere wrote: 04 Dec 2020, 17:10I don't know exactly how it happened, but an acquaintance of mine had a mouse that would randomly shock her. Regular 5V isn't enough to cause a shock.

The bad thing about this design is, you won't feel how bad they are after a while since I suppose you will not feel anything in your fingertips after the fifth or sixth keystroke

Depending on how fast you type you wouldn't really have much to type with after a couple sentences

I'll vote for static electricity as the answer. I was never shown the bad mouse in question.Kneeboard wrote: 05 Dec 2020, 07:09Findecanor wrote: 05 Dec 2020, 03:41cakeanalytics wrote: 04 Dec 2020, 18:38

We've been talking too much about the user experience. Let's talk repair. How about switches that are welded, not soldered, in? Someone will probably point out that it's been done and provide pics.

InB4 Apple starts doing this in all of their electronics. Spot welding could be feasible, similar to how battery cells get welded in battery packs. I'd add we also need to make sure the switches are plastic-welded shut to make them non-sevicable as well.hellothere wrote: 05 Dec 2020, 16:27 We've been talking too much about the user experience. I've heard that they can be quite good but they have to be in pure pristine conditionmindgame wrote: 05 Dec 2020, 18:16 Shitsumi Miniature, really impossible to use, little offcenter - and u have no chance to actuate it. So horrible binding, scratchiness and tactility. Good reference design))
