I recently bought what looked to be a good conditioned FK-2001 with white alps, and while it feels great I'm curious about the tell tale signs of wear on the switches, since the only comparisons I have are T1 clones and Matias Clicky switches... So far the only dead give away I've read about is scratchiness, which my switches don't have, feeling incredibly smooth compared to just about every switch I've used before hand, though I've noticed they click on these aren't as loud as the T1 or Matias switches.

That's fantastic to hear! I figured I was probably looking a bit too deep into it, they do feel utterly amazing and are competing with BS as some of the best switches I've used thus far! I can't get over how smooth they feel after the click

Alps: when they're good, they're great! Should stay that way too, if you treat them right.
I'm, well, obsessive is probably the right word, so when I leave an Alps board on my desk I keep it covered when I'm not sitting there using it, in case of dust. Dirt ingress is the root of all Alpine degredation, far as I understand. A cover also helps keep the nasty UV off those doubleshots, besides.

Funny you mention that, I'm using the Focus FK-2001 (same keyboard I'm using to type this post up!) and I specifically sought out the dust cover for that reason haha... Whenever I'm away or simply eating at my desk I always keep this sucker closed and push it out of the way just to be safe, this keyboard is my baby!Muirium wrote: 12 Feb 2022, 12:38 I'm, well, obsessive is probably the right word, so when I leave an Alps board on my desk I keep it covered when I'm not sitting there
