I agree it turned out to be too long.

Thinking of doing a short (semi-scripted) one as well.....

Excellent review!

I'm very glad you waited until you re-acquired your SGI board. The fact that the dampened Matias switches are lighter than the complicated dampened white alps in the SGI is intriguing. I loathe complicated clicky white alps because they are too heavy for my tastes, but we all know that Matias also developed a new clicky alps switch too. The lightness gives me hope that the clicky Matias variant will also be lighter than complicated white alps...which is awesome since I already bought and prepped an old Zenith board to mod the new Matias clicky switches into.
iBroScience wrote:Mr. Interface, have you ever lubed the switches in any of your SGI AT101s? Some my keys feel scratchy in mine, so I was thinking about doing it. Just wondering if you had any tips.
I lightly lube most of my alps boards. I find it helps with the scratchiness of the older alps boards that are in bad shape. I have a lubed SGI right now sitting in the closet and the lube did make the switches feel slightly lighter.

I use teflon silicone lubricant and q-tip. I dab the q-tip in the liquid lubricant and slightly touch the both sides of the stems of each alps switch (the part that sticks out above the switch housing when the switch is not actuated). I use the lubricant very sparingly. Once all the switches are lubed, I use the board for a day or two which seems to work the lube into the switch. I have never taken apart the switch to lubricate it though...so ymmv.

Thanks AKIMbO, I think it's your old SGI that actually have right now. Once the black friday crowd thins out, I'm going to go pick up some of that lubricant and open each switch.
