Now, I can't vouch for the quality, but I should nonetheless mention that Taiwan Tai-Hao make double-shot keycaps. (They make the APC switch keyboards — do they also have Tai-Hao doubleshots? I've never read that anywhere.)
Probably one for the Asian market who are closer to the source, but I felt that I should mention it just in case it's useful to someone.
I didn't get any more info than what I've attached, as I'm personally more interested in learning about switches!

I bought a set of Octopus keycaps from newegg for my brother for christmas
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 1HC0D18108
They seem to visually match the ones in the picture. The quality is actually quite high (I was surprised), and it was $10 for 8 keycaps, an excellent price.

Interesting. See, doubleshots have a telltale patterning on the inside, which Taiwan Tai-Hao caps do not.
Those in your picture look like the outer layer just has a hole to let the letters show through. I don't know whether that's better or worse than the "domino" effect of the sunk infill with QWERKeys caps.
I suspect the German company with the Cherry tooling is a better bet, but I thought I'd pass this on to keep all bases covered.
I wanted to enquire further, but I was taking enough of his time asking about APC and Aruz switches, so I figured I'd let someone else ask about keycaps, and not push my luck. I've realised since then that I forgot some questions, so now I've asked the poor guy some more. He's been very helpful though, and his English is decent, unlike my contact at Xiang Min — I had to give up on them due to the language barrier.

What would one inquire about, exactly?
Pricing? Custom Keycaps? Availability?
I'd do legwork (well, compose some well written emails using my experience with the Newegg keycaps), if I knew what was involved.

The colorful board in the first picture looks like those find on many 80's-90's era Alps-alikes legend wise. Even if they don't do custom order on the smaller scale, if they start selling sets retail even would not be a bad thing. It would be nice to see doubleshots return as stock option on keyboards. Maybe with more companies making themselves known again that they make higher quality keycap some oem might pull their heads out of the sand. I'm sure some of them have to be tired of complaints that the legends wore off the keys in weeks by now.

Anything you want. I'm not fussed about keycaps personally. Might want to get some proof that they don't suck :) Do they put the sprue marks on the front and get their keming wrong? :)reverkiller wrote:What would one inquire about, exactly?
