This mod is to the lower tray of the Filco case, the only part that will be modified.
Tools needed:
- Dremmel drill
- Flat edge file
- Wide chisel
- Hobby knife
- Vernier calliper
I wouldn't recommend this mod to anyone that's never cut or shaped plastic before.
The fun bit
Below the top of the lower case, the stems and the eight clip female recesses (that the upper case tabs clip into) score a 3 mm guide mark. I used the calliper to make the measurements exact.
A large hole will be left when cutting the top of the main centre stem so you'll need a large washer with a small hole to be able to re-attach the screw when complete. The two front stems will be removed entirely.
Cut the bulk off with the Dremmel and then a file down to your guide marks.
The messy bit
Cut the rib supports off then using the chisel as a scraper slowly scrape away thin layers of plastic until you removed about 1/2mm of the thickness of the case. Work slowly and carefully here and make cuts away from yourself to not cause an injury or puncture the case. You can use fine wet and dry sandpaper to smooth this off, I skipped this part but would do that next time to make a cleaner finish.
The tricky bit
**Rear female recess after modification**
Recut all eight female clip recesses lower than their current positions. Cut slowly and carefully starting with the rear centre two to allow for mistakes as the front four are more important now that the lower case front stems have been removed.
Score your cut marks FIRST and slightly deeper to allow for the depth of the cut and re-score and measure as you get deeper.
Patience is required here, I did all the rear clip recesses first so I could then try the upper case in position without snapping in all eight clips. Start with the centre ones, if you make a mistake the outer ones are more important for stability.

Additional you can remove the bottom rubber front feet entirely.
I can provide this mod as a service should anyone wish, although it would probably be pricey.
