keycap problem

Hello keyboard experts!

Not to long ago I bought a mechanical keyboard and some time ago some extra keycaps. They arrived today and all buttons but one went on easy.

The caps lock. If I put on the default keycap it works normal, when I put on the new one it makes a wierd sound and goes off very easy - it just does not fit very well.

On the old keycap the "cross" looks way bigger, maybe that is the problem?

Second question. The bigger keys have wired "connections". How do I know if I put them on correctly again?

Second question: if the stabilised caps move freely up and down, and remain horizontal (stabilised!) when pressed, you've probably done it right.

Pictures would help with the first question though.

The blue cap looks good and thick. The stock black cap has an LED window, though. Hmm. Now take a picture of the switch!

Ok here is a picture. When I press the switch without a keycap and compare it to the others it feels normal.
I think maybe the keycap is too thick? at least the cross part.

or maybe there is not enough space because of the LED? that would be bad

if the cap is to loose you could try putting some scotch tape on the stem to make it tighter like this http://i.imgur.com/poLbH.jpg

I would not say it is to lose It just does not fit very well.

I think the LED collides with the wall of the thicker keycap, I had a similar problem with my Cherry PBT dyesubs, but with smaller square LEDs.

That makes sense. My options are now to remove the LEDs or live with a working caps lock that makes a strange sound.
Considering I don't know how to remove LEDs and that I hardly ever use caps lock I think I keep it like that for now

You could file the inside of the cap a little bit, or the LED!

My solution was to file the LED a little bit, there's plenty of plastic around the "real" LED.
