Hello guys.
I have a IBM Model-M that i have bought recently, every single key its working properly except the "f" key which doesnt make contact most of the times and when it does it repeats the character a couple of times until another key its pressed. Can this be a mechanical or firmware problem?
Iam connecting the keyboard by PS2, can this have any influence? Any solution for this? Its such a great keyboard :(

Thanks.

Best Regards

The key stem may not be seated properly.

Pull the key out and re-seat it trying to ensure that the spring is centered. You may need to tilt the keyboard forward or back, and it may take multiple tries. When it is right, the key will feel and sound just like the rest of them.

You can always try reseating the spring too, fairly easy to do if you have a decent light and some tweezers.

Gently pull up on the spring until it pops off. Shine a torch down the barrel and youll see the little notch on the flipper where the spring needs to sit. Take your time and use tweezers or whatever you have to reseat the spring. It can take quite a few goes to get it perfect.

There's also a method that involves using a chopstick, which is probably more kind to a spring than pulling it straight off -> http://imgur.com/a/6bnzW. I was skeptical before trying it, but it works rather nice.

So, i should remove the spring from the "base" and reseat it again on the flipper? Its not suppose to remove the whole flipper right? I saw some info on google that i could change the whole flipper but i couldt understand how because i dont believe i can remove it through the barrel can i? :?
