Tai Hao Alps modifiers

Hey folks - i'm in the process of assembling a quefrency board https://keeb.io/products/quefrency-60-6 ... 4552880222 using some alps switches (which the PCB supports). However, i've hit a snag in terms of stabilised keycaps.

I've got a pack of tai hao alps doubleshots - but the pcb and plate only support cherry style stabilisers, and the stabilised keys (with the exception of the space bar) have alps mount without the insert (i.e. just the two hollow squares either side of the main slider mount). Does anyone have any experience getting around this kind of thing? Thanks.

Does the plate work with Costar stabilizers? If so, you can use Costar clips on the plate and Matias hooks and wires.

i know it's not very fancy, but in a pinch you can just stick some springs over the support mounts.

It seems like you could 3d print a cherry compatible insert for the caps, but everything I found with google was going the other way: https://www.tinkercad.com/things/eM6pKpCBmn9#/

When you say "support mounts", what do you mean exactly? Do you mean the spaces for inserts on the inside of caps or do you mean where cherry style inserts are for the pcb mount stabs? Cheers

I just tried Costar clips in a plate made for Cherry stabs, it works, but a bit loosely. Maybe some electrical tape can fix that?

Managed to wedge a costar clip where the cherry stab should be in the plate - fits reasonably snugly so I don't have to stick tape anywhere. Have to use alps wires though, (they're a bit thin for the costar clips as well - but they just stay in). Bit of hack but looks to be working. inb4 it explodes under actual use.

Hei, any updates? I bought a Quefrency 65% kit and I also have some damped Alps switches, *and* Costar stabilizers, *and* Alps stabilizer wires (and keycaps and stuff from some old Alps keyboard parts). From my tests, the Costar stabs fit (I had to cut off their rear "lip"), but I will have to either bend the stabilizer wire "away" from the Alps switch, or file the Alps switch to avoid friction with the wire. Do you have some pics of your (hopefully, still) working setup? Thanks!

I haven't really ever built a custom ALPS board, but where does one reliably source Costar stabilizers from?
