Greetings.
Would like to acquire a model M122 to replace my model M. Assuming money is not a consideration I'm assuming the original model M is the way to go but I’d like to get other points of view. I’m assuming that either way I’ll need a Soarer’s or equivalent. I don’t recall if the Unicomp has lock lights but I could always add those to the original model M if I changed the controller. Thoughts?

You can get one of these that is native USB and you get a manufacturer's warranty.

For a bit less less money you could find and buy an old one and one of Orihalcon's cables which might give you some additional programing flexibility.
A 122-key Model F will cost you more money but it is vastly superior.

To be more precise, Unicomp makes true genuine Model M keyboards in a factory that IBM spun off under the Lexmark brand in the early 1990s and then some years later a group of employees bought the facility and created Unicomp.
