My new Cherry MX g80-3000 with clear switches.

I've been using the g80-3000 for a week, and I do like it.

I've changed some keycaps as the original ones are in German. I don't need it at all as I touch type with English layout, but still, it was a bit weird looking at it. I could use keycaps from a g80-1000 I already have, so it was free and I did it. Now it looks even more weird than before! but anyway I prefer this. I changed also F and J keys because g80-1000 ones have not a mark on them, but instead they have a deeper curvature, which I find easier to my fingers. To sum it up, I have a Frankenstein's keyboard, but it is *my* keyboard.

I have not changed all the keycaps because old (ABS) g80-1000 keycaps doesn't feel good, my fingers get stuck on them. The new (PBT) ones do feel much better.

The first I did on the keyboard was filling some switches with blue springs, but that didn't work well at all, I dislike how it felt (besides keys were getting stuck). Later, I put on them vintage black springs which seems to be a tiny lighter than clear springs. Finally I restored the originals clear springs, and now I suspect I want stiffier springs than these. I do think this is the result of having used a Buckling Spring keyboard for three weeks.

What else can I say? It is quieter than anything I've used before (MX blue, Acer and BS) while having a nice degree of tactility, altough nothing compared to Buckling Spring ( I don't feel comfortable using clicky keyboards with people around altough I do prefer them ).

I love the G80-3000 but the newer Cherry logo is not as good as the older ones in my opinion.

Looked at my g80-1000, but it has no logo. It would be more beautiful with it for sure.

I agree -- the longer I use my Model M the more I like Cherry clears again, too. I hope you will be able to find a nice full Spanish PBT keyset on the long run.

My preference is for ABS, but I see what you mean.

So, are clears more like Model M or Model F? (I'm just being snarky. I've got a load of both kinds of IBMs now, but still haven't tried an MX clear keyboard. Only a single, lonely switch.)

These double shot ABS are nicer to the eye, but they are worn out, and because of this fingers seems to get stuck on them, and the more the humidity the more they do, I hope I can express this good enough.

If you like Buckling Spring I find MX clear is a good choice to mantain tactility while having the minimum sound posible. But still, I miss something on the M2 (but not its stiffines).

I would like to be able to answer that, but the only Buckling Spring keyboard I own is a M2, so I can not compare to Model F.

I would say that MX greens would be nearer Buckling Spring ... But as you say, this is based on my experience with a lonely MX green I've got.

One very interesting test I want to do is compare the tactility of different switches using ear muffs protection.

Good idea. A big part of the Model F experience is its sound. I should see about rocking some headphones while using the Kishsaver, now I'm so used to it, and comparing with my MX green custom 60% and even Topre. Whenever I think of any of them, it's the sound…

Please, do not torture your ears. A good way to do it is to put a pair of in-ears headphones which by themselves isolate quite a bit. On top of them, a pair of isolation earmuffs. I know how this configuration works because is what I used to protect my ears while playing drums (I know, but I only have a pair of ears). That will eat specially high frequencies, I don't think much clicky sound will pass through that.
