Cherry MX Olympia Linear Clear is a medium stiff, linear, non-clicky mechanical keyboard switch in the Cherry MX family. The provisional name was selected based on this model appearing to be a customer-specific design for AEG Olympia: the switches can be found on few AEG Olympia typewriters.

Description

MX Olympia Linear Clear has a number of differences compared to standard MX switches:

Cherry MX plate-shell distance.svg
  • The distance between the PCB and mounting plate is raised by one millimetre, from 5 mm (standard) to 6 mm
  • The keystem height is marginally taller, raised from 3.7 to 3.9 mm
  • The keystem is around 0.1 mm narrower in each direction (3.9 mm instead of 4.0 mm); normal keycaps fit, but with a looser grip
  • The front and back keystem vanes appear to be 0.05 mm wider; the difference in width between the x and y vanes is not visible to the eye

In order to accommodate for the increased PCB–plate distance, the bottom shell is 1 mm taller, and the top shell is 1 mm shorter.

The stem shape is also different in general, with the rear vane tapering slightly towards the top, and with a notch at its base.

Keyfeel

Linear, medium-stiff. Same as MX Black.
