Introduction

The Sony BKE-2010 Editing Keyboard is a special purpose keyboard used on the Sony BVE-2000 linear edit system, and possibly others. It is one of the only known Topre keyboards that does not use capacitive switches, instead adopting a conductive membrane setup, much like the one seen on the Sony BKE-2011.

Description

The BKE-2010's case is completely plastic, unlike the Sony BKE-9400A (all metal) and Sony BKE-2011 (metal bottom only). The keycaps are PBT, and compatible with a standard capacitive Topre keyboard. There is a rubberised section surrounding the jog/shuttle dial. The keyboard interfaces via a 15-pin proprietary connector on the back. Interestingly, the rubber domes on the BKE-2010 do not have carbon-contact pads like the BKE-2011. This suggests that the carbon contact pads on the Sony BKE-2011 are unnecessary, as previously assumed.
